Joe’s Wednesday Tips
***8.31 Yarmouth – Trumpers Bobcat (4pts) 13/8
**6.48 Yarmouth – Isthatmyfella (2pts) 9/4
*9.46 Romford – Piemans Angel (2pts) 5/4
A disappointing Tuesday sees us trying to restore some pride on Wednesday with three graded selections.
The nap of the evening runs in the A1 at Yarmouth and 8.31pm. Trap three Trumpers Bobcat returned to racing with a bang last week winning his A1 in good style and if he can repeat that this evening, he should go close. He can clear the inside pair on the run to the bend with Dick Turpin and Laugh Alot both vying for the lead. That could suit our selection who can get loose from the second bend to open up an unassailable lead and go on to win well.
We stay at Yarmouth for the next best but drop down on trip to the 277m inter-track at 6.48pm. Local runner Isthatmyfella runs from trap two and can put a disappointing run last time out behind him and return to winning ways. He led into the first bend before giving the lead up with no fight back at all so I am hoping he is further clear into the bend this week where he can drive it better to open up and win. He needs to clear Lissatouk Blake and Newinn Lotto, the latter being the main danger. If doing so he can pick up his third victory at Yarmouth.
The third bet for the evening is at Romford in the A1 at 9.46pm. Trap one Piemans Angel got back to winning ways in good style last week in an inter-track and this evening’s race could suit. Knocknarea Tip in two should be out the selections way early on and if Piemans Angel gets a run at the former she can have too much for him coming home.
Double up at Swindon for Angie Kibble
Tuesday night opens at Blunsdon start badly for favourite backers.
Haverhill Lass went fastest in the opens over 476m last night, though her kennelmate All Long went quicker in a graded race than her 28.36. Still a puppy, Haverhill Lass is a May 23 half-sister to Droopys Pivotel and should have better to come. Kibble also scored with Cul Na Braithre, both of her winners turning over odds on favourites.
That was the case in the stayers event as well as Alright Gordy couldn’t get to grips with Millridge Tanic for Chris Fereday. 41.45 was the winning time, just four lengths off the track record that was set last year by Ballymac Loca. The one wining favourite in the opens was Chelms Skint for Barry Johnson who had rattled off a hat-trick of open wins at the track last October.
Ladbrokes Winter Derby non runners
Longacres Magic and Kilmore Dancer has both been withdrawn from the Monmore card on Saturday. As a result trap 5 will be vacant in the first semi-final and trap 2 will be vacant in the second.
Monmore Trials
There are some smart types trialling at Monmore today. Ballymac Taylor continues her build up to full fitness, stepping up to four bends after a pair of smart sprint trials at Towcester. Vhagar produced a 29.07 when winning at Towcester in November. She is back with a sprint trial and will be immediately followed by Silver Salver winner Magical Bluebear.
